Mitchell Broodley "Overtime Again"

“Overtime Again” is building meaningful independent traction in its first two weeks of release.

Within 12 days, Mitchell Broodley’s second country single surpassed 20,000 Spotify streams, with approximately 70% driven by Spotify Radio, a strong indicator of listener retention and engagement. The track entered the iTunes UK Country Chart, briefly reaching #7 and charting at #90 on February 20.

Broodley’s previous release reached #1 on two Amazon Music charts and climbed to #6 on Amazon’s Holiday Best Sellers chart, establishing early proof of audience connection.

Press response has been consistent:

“Clean and radio-ready, but it never loses heart.” — MusikPool

“Football imagery not as novelty but as emotional structure.” — Avola Magazine

“In an era where much of modern country leans toward spectacle or formula, ‘Overtime Again’ offers something refreshingly grounded.” — Hit Harmony Haven

“Polished enough for radio but retains a rough-around-the-edges sincerity.”

— Our Sound Music

“More than a simple single… confirmation of an artist who has returned to the essentials.”

— IGGY Magazine

“An artist honed by pauses, perspective, and lived experience.” — Indie Noise Nation

“It’s the sound of a man who’s already walked away from music once and decided this time every song has to be worth staying for.” — Illustrate Magazine

Broodley was raised in South Carolina and is now based in Vermont. He stepped away from an early country music opportunity to pursue graduate school and build a legal career. He returned to songwriting during the pandemic and now records and produces in his basement studio, often surrounded by his two young children who already know the words to most of his songs. His unofficial test for whether a track makes the cut is simple: if his kids are still singing it after hearing it twenty times, it’s worth finishing. He writes, sings, plays multiple instruments, and oversees production on every release and sleeps if there is time.

“Overtime Again” reflects that perspective, responsibility and ambition existing alongside love and distance. It is modern country built on lived experience rather than trend. Listen here.
