I didn't write this song because I admired the woman at the well. I wrote it because I was her.
For years, I searched for peace, love, and fulfillment in places that could never satisfy. I was exhausted from chasing things that always left me empty. Anxiety, fear, and depression had become my life, and I honestly don't know where I'd be today if Jesus hadn't come looking for me.
Just like the woman at the well, He met me in my brokenness, not after I had everything together, but right in the middle of it. He changed my life completely.
Every lyric of "Girl at the Well" comes from that journey. My prayer is that someone listening will recognize themselves in the story and discover the same living water that rescued me.
