As one of the defining artists of modern Texas country, William Clark Green has spent more than 15 years packing venues with rowdy crowds, powered by a gritty, fuzzed-out country-rock sound, a wry vocal rasp, and songs rooted in the troubles, triumphs, and humor of real life. A product of relentless live touring and Friday-night sing-alongs, Green built his career the long way, rising through the Red Dirt scene centered on Lubbock’s Blue Light and earning multiple trips to the top of Texas Country Radio and the iTunes Country Album charts.
His discography reads like the soundtrack to an era, from early releases Dangerous Man and Misunderstood to 2013’s Rose Queen, featuring the fan-favorite “She Likes the Beatles,” streamed over 40 million times. 2015’s Ringling Road marked a breakout, cracking the Billboard 200 and reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, followed by Hebert Island (2018) and Baker Hotel (2022), which further cemented his reputation for pairing live-band energy with songwriting influenced by Texas greats.
An in-demand headliner, festival founder, and member of the Texas supergroup The Panhandlers, Green’s next chapter finds him exploring new roles with hard-earned creative wisdom. His recently released album Watterson Hall features the radio hits “Where the Wild Things Are” (#1 on CDX Texas, American Country Music Chart, and the Texas Country Music Chart) and “Stubborn and Remains” (#1 on both CDX Texas and the American Country Music Chart).
