The nomination places Eighteen Mile among this year's top honorees in bluegrass gospel music, recognized by the voting membership of the Gospel Music Association for excellence in songwriting, performance, and production.
"Above the Clouds" was written by the band’s bassist, Hallie Ritter, and was Eighteen Mile’s first single released from their debut studio album with Mountain Home Music Company, Peace Be Still.
"We could not be more excited and thankful that our first single, ‘Above the Clouds,’ has been nominated for a Dove Award,” lead singer and guitarist Carson Aaron said. “It is truly only explainable as an act of God that we would go from not having a band name in 2025 to having a Dove Award nomination in 2026. The GMA Dove Awards, first presented in 1969, honor achievement across the Christian and gospel music industry. Winners will be announced at the ceremony on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
